Pedal Steel Noah is the project of Austin’s Noah Faulkner, an 18-year-old pedal steel guitarist and songwriter whose melodic, understated playing reframes post-punk, new wave, and shoegaze songs through the open, sliding language of Texas steel. What began as near-daily Instagram covers with his brother Nate has grown into a body of original compositions and a live family band. Nate contributes bass, vocals, and songwriting, including a track on the forthcoming album, while their dad Jay plays guitar. The family plans to tour and support the project indefinitely.

His 2024 EP Texas Madness (Lightning Rod Records) received coverage from The New York Times, Texas Monthly, Guitar World, and the Austin Chronicle. The New York Times noted Faulkner translating his influences into a dedicated music career, while Texas Monthly observed the way he brings the sliding notes and deep vibrato of pedal steel to a new generation of listeners. He continues to post regularly, with individual clips routinely reaching hundreds of thousands of views, and maintains an Instagram following of more than 90,000. Public support has come from artists including Isaac Brock, Frank Black, Johnny Marr, Peter Hook, Broken Social Scene, and Doug Martsch.

Noah is currently finishing his debut full-length album, mixed by Phil Ek. The record centers on his songwriting and collaborations with established writers and performers, alongside original contributions from Nate, while retaining the same direct, genre-blurring sensibility that first connected with listeners of My Bloody Valentine, The Cure, Cocteau Twins, and Joy Division. His focused, intuitive approach to the instrument favors melody over flash, giving the work a distinctive clarity and emotional immediacy. With a growing catalog of originals, proven stage experience alongside acts such as Modest Mouse, Blitzen Trapper, and The Polyphonic Spree, and a Grand Ole Opry debut invited by Vince Gill, Pedal Steel Noah is positioned as a songwriting and collaboration force as well as a natural support or special-guest artist for acts that value both roots texture and contemporary edge.
